David.......I have great success converting my vinyl to digital using my Sony 60ES DAT tape recorder. This particular digital audio tape recorder allows 16bit/48kHz recording to DAT tape. The DAT tape is handled just like the old cassette tape with all the familiar controls on the player, as well as music search features and individual track number embedding if selected. The Sony 60ES DAT also allows digital input and output via optical or coaxial connectors as well as its analog inputs. I particularly like making mixed music digital audio tapes from my vinyl library. The playback quality is excellent via the digital output through my MCD1100 DAC's.
Here's a photo of my DAT recorder. The Teac AN-180 Noise Reduction Unit on top of the Sony is used with a reel to reel tape recorder and has nothing to do with the DAT recorder.
