Thank you guys!

Wonderful résumé Jacques!
You really have a terrific way to express yourself.
Brutally honest is your thing, and I like that.
I hope to attend more shows with you!

Goldenear Technology

Full-bore high end gear like Pass Labs, dCS, and Aurender could not help the speakers to bring music of a more or less acceptable level.

On static display: the Vivaldi One:

I'm sure this marvellous stack of gear could produce some terrific sound, but alas...

Not with these speakers!

Decent room: Focal Kanta with McIntosh

Again this little good looking device:

Priced at 7500€ per pair, this speaker is a serious contender.
I've heard the Sopras before, and now this new line, and I have to say I like Focal better than before.

Dynaudio & T+A

As Jacques wrote, the Special Forty was producing an enormous sound.
We first looked for a hidden sub, but it wasn't there.

Like always, T+A did not disappoint:

The R-series come just under the HV series.
The MP-2500R got very high praise in several magazines.
It streams, does Bluetooth, has an analogue and digital tuner, contains a very good DAC and an in house developed SACD-transport.
For 8,5K, you get serious value!

This is the latest integrated from the HV- series.
In Stereoplay, it beat the D'Agostino momentum integrated. (And they're not against US brands: Wilson Audio is very very high in their ranking).

Neighbouring room: Dynaudio Lifestyle

Their Music 5 costs 799€ and does a lot of things. It sounded very decent.
The app seems intuitive.

Its bigger brother the Music 7 costs 999€ is a serious competitor for the Naim MuSo:

It filled the room with ease.
Room adaptation, streaming, personal playlists, analogue inputs,...

Q Acoustics & Marantz

The sound was not convincing.
I'm sure the Marantz PM-10 and SA-10 deserve better speakers.

Cabasse & McIntosh

A good match.
But I'd prefer the Focals in that price category.

Sennheiser

YEAH!!!
I was surprised to find this jewel here.
It was after all quite a modest show.
I was even more surprised we could listen to the thing.

I started with the 800. I know that one and I like it.
The 800s was even a little bit better.

And then came the Orpheus 2...
I was not prepared for this.
Okay, you expect it to be good at 55K, but that heavenly and accurate? No way, ain't possible! And yet, it was.
An Aurender was feeding it the bits, and the Senn transformed them into pure joy.
I could say: I don't know if this is the best sound I've ever heard... But I would be lying to myself.

The Sennheiser guys were friendly and humorous.
Of course they knew 99,9% of the people listening to it on the show will not buy it.
But they said: "Suppose you win the lottery next week, you'll know what to spend it on!"
