Default Pass labs to Amati Tradition?

I have Mcintosh C500T (Gold lion tubes) and Mc452 to my Amati tradition but i think the sound is a little "flat" Have any one pair Amati tradition with Pass Labs or Gryphon?

I am using an all-Pass Labs system with my Stradivaris. I love the combination. The Pass gear is detailed, but also smooth sounding. Before my Strads, I had Amati Futuras, which was also a very good combination. I have no experience with Amati Tradition though.

I'll second Dave's opinion on Sonus Faber with Pass Labs, based on my experience of the more modest Elipsas/XA30.8 combination.

I know for a fact that Gryphon is a very good match with Sf Amati Futura and The Sonus faber (Finice).
You can be sure of that Sf Amati Traditon would be perfect as well.

I am using an all ARC system for my Amati Traditional. To me what you describe is the Mac sound. I would try a different preamp first.

I originally ran my Amati’s with a audio Research REF 5SE and Pass x350. There was no lack of details, air and transparency.. exactly what it sounds like what you want. Then I swapped the Pass x350 for a ARC 160s amp… kept the details and took on a sense of natural music.. but less highlighting of the details. From what you say an ARC REF preamp + Pass X350 would do exactly what you want.

But I digress. The Pass is one of the components you may want… but give a ARC preamp a test drive and see if it doesn’t move your system significantly in the right direction.

i bought a pair of amati traditions about 3 months ago. yesterday went to audition new electronics. compared the mcintosh c1100 combo and ARC 6SE using a mark levinson amp. they had sold their mc462 amp. they both sounded amazing. all transparent cables. the mcintosh sounded more musical to my ears and had more better low end bass. the ARC maybe a bit more detailed. front end VPI table with koetsu rosewood signature and sutherland little loco phono stage. dealer is large dealer for both brands. the nod for mcintosh is the reliability and the resale value. seems like ARC has its share of issues and there is a long time if repairs are needed. those who own ARC please comment on reliability.

I own the Amati traditions powered by a pair of mac601s, c2300 preamp, esoteric sacd dCS barok DAC and a vpi hw40 direct with an ortofon mc Diamond, moon phono amp and shunyata conditioners and assorted cables….I am thinking about upgrading my amp/preamp to pass, Lamm or moon from the Mac equipment. I am a jazz, blues and rock/jam band listener. My room is 18x38x9….so I need some juice. Thoughts on pre and amp upgrades?

Is the pass 160.8 mono at 320 watts enough to drive Amati traditions in a room that is almost 40x2? And would it offer more bass slam and open air than my Mac 601s….what are your thoughts? Thank you!

How do you like the dCS barok? I think anything more than the 600 watts that the 601’s provide is too much for the Amati’s…….
