You do understand the difference between DVD-Audio discs and DVD's.

I tried this exact combo. Good, but not close to as good as my K-01 with CD's or SA CD's.

Sooloos is convenient but just sounds ok IMO.

Yes, I am ripping my DVD-Audio discs to FLAC and enjoying them. I don't bother ripping standard DVD's. Sounds like Kal and many others are doing the same.

If you aren't running Sooloos thru a Meridian endpoint you haven't heard it.

Meridian does get great reviews as a closed system. I'd love to here one!

Jim

Do you have your M endpoint set for 48 or 96KHz ?

Native format, though all 192 files are currently down sampled to 96. With the next update (currently overdue) we should see both 192 native and DSD compatibility added. I am guessing that one of the reason that Sooloos works best with its own endpoints is the original 44.1kHz, 16-bit audio is upsampled to 176.4kHz, 24-bit in a 150MIPS processor operating with 48-bit internal precision. Not all outboard DAC's handle this well and would prefer seeing the CD's at native 16/44.1 then do their own manipulation. The DAC's in basic Sooloos products (C-10,C15, MC200) are nowhere near the capability of the 808Vx or 818Vx DAC's.

The Sooloos Configuration file requires a PC. I haven't owned anything but Mac for years. My dealer ran the configuration on the 808 at his shop.

Kingsrule,

I can try to take a peek at my config tomorrow. My 818v2 will show "PCM 96k" in the display when it's playing something 96k or higher res.
