Excellent. Keep us posted. I assume this update requires a Windows computer? If so, I will have to take my D1100 to dealer (Magnolia). Or better yet, my IT team at work.

PCM I saw her Standing There, A Hard Days Night and I'm a Loser all test perfectly! Now on to DSD pops. Where is the pop supposed to come in, 1st track only??

Direct DSD mode via ASIO from a windows machine is the problematic mode. On DSD playback start and stop. Direct DSD is the only way to get DSD256 to McIntosh DACs capable of doing it.

DSD DOP and regular PCM sample rate changes might exhibit a much much much quieter pop. Unless of course the slight fade in and fade out work around is still in this firmware?

Thanks for posting! Can’t wait to do my testing when i land tonight. My setup doesn’t use windows or native DSD, so I won’t be able to test that. As long as the muting issue is solved I will be very happy!

Ha! My IT team are MUCH more qualified than Magnolia. I, along with 20 other docs, write their checks, they won’t mind

The Stones in Mono DSD64 no pops so far. The DAC still "loses lock" between tracks but it's a quick blink and no music is lost. I'm hopeful that the digital artifacts thing is fixed too, but need to do more testing before drawing that conclusion.

I have done some testing. The good news is that the issues we have been discussing are resolved! No more issues with missing the first half second.

Bad news is that it introduces other problems with pops. In my case, I experience a “pop” sound in the following circumstances

- When playing the first track. Immediate “pop” then everything is fine
- When pausing, approximately 5 seconds after the pause, and 5 seconds after the last track ends
- When resuming out of pause, immediately

When playing DSD albums there is some weird artifacting at the very beginning of the first track. I am testing with DoP not native DSD

So, my conclusion is basically that 1.03 now gives you the choice of if you want the popping issues that were present < 1.02 or if you want the muting issues in 1.02 : )

Maybe one day we will get 1.04 that solves both.
