Default Just Another Friday Night

Enjoying tunes on the Garrard 401 via the Lafon 300B's with the Devore O/96s.

Just now spinning Miles Ahead, very nice. Next up might be Ry Cooder, Jazz, I just bought it used last week and have never heard it, believe it or not.

Also just scored a Joe Strummer, Live at Acton Hall on ebay as my Black Friday order never showed up. Plus two LPs from this band called Eloy (you can go look that up). Oh and just bought the Television Marque Moon re-issue (not 4MWB) from a seller in the UK as it doesn't arrive in the US market till next week, it has gotten great reviews.

What are you kids up to?

Barr

p.s. Oh and to make it forum relevant, who has WE 300B's they wanna sell me?

Girlfriend working late, no kiddies to account for. Last time my brother and his 6 and 8 year old nephews visited had to make the cutover to digital fairly fast as they became a little "too" fascinated with the turntable and tonearm and wanted to take charge of cueing up the records. I promised them they could in two years...

p.s. Oh and to make it forum relevant, who has WE 300B's they wanna sell me?
For at least $1K plus per (or thereabouts for original WE's)? The 'reputable' word on the original WE's is that WE has acknowledge they were made using inferior sealing techniques and most of the NOS tubes on the market go dead very quickly upon use. It has been blogged, one person who paid $3500 a pop for vintage WE 300B's had them crap out in a couple months.

That's a lot of bucks to learn if the above is true to oneself or not IMO.

These $2K per pair are considered equal to or better than the WE's and much better than the Shuguang Treasure Black Bottles.

I don't know about that. The original WE 300b was a very very reliable tube. I've had several and never had a problem. I suspect your blogger had the exception. Like anything "NOS," be careful who you buy from.

The only problem is that true WE tubes are well north of $1000 with the reissues WE 300b tubes now approaching the $1000 per tube mark. I cannot comment on the reissues...never heard em.

Well that settles it, no turntable for me

I just found a nice dent on the front of my new Oppo, the imagination goes wild with how that happened. I love kids

Hey Barr-

Nice post-

Nice LP choices, I see you're a classic rock & jazz guy- I think a lot of people who profess to be audiophiles, don't admit to liking rock !

Better to be a music lover anyway-

Also looks like you have a groovy system ! I agree w/ kev313 on the WE tubes- I don't have much experience, however I have read that they are very reliable, and depending on the circuit design (especially Shindo), the WE 300B can last 10K hrs-

I sent you a 'Visitor Message' btw-

David
