Thanks Don - the Orangutans are very appealing - my system is currently in a very small room (13' x 13') - would the Orangutans overwhelm a room this small?

CharlesP,

I question your statement. I know someone that has the O 96's in a modest sized room like yours. I think they sound great. I would encourage to rethink your question. My focus would be on is this the sound I want. If it is, then these should be great. Take an opportunity to hear these. You're room is a factor, just not THE factor. I think you'd find the Os are amazing, and the sound is at a level unlike anything you have now with the 8's!

Just my 2 cents. And check out my *log on getting lost in analogue on *ord *ress.

Go for the Os'''''''''' They are amazing! I can't wait for John's top of the line version!

I would highly recommend that. They really are incredible. I seriously question that your nicely sized 13'x13' room would be negative. The O's are amazing! Enjoy!

Charles- I did notice your dimensions, but I'm not qualified to answer.
I do remember John DeVore saying 0/96's can do well close together.
Mine are about 7 feet apart, on a wall that is 12', 4" long.
They are firing down a 23 + ft wall, and I think they sound great. I am sure Matt can shed some light on what would be best for you. I assume the 99's, like the Nines, will have a side firing woofer. The 0/93's of course, have a 10" front firing woofer. They are certainly different, so I would think one may be better for your room. Perhaps both could work well, but you may just prefer one over the other. The nice thing is, you have great sound in the mean time.
Cheers !

Where is this 99 reference coming from? Is it sourced from John or a hunch.

I doubt John will take these in the side firing direction. My guess is he amps (pun intended) it up a few more notches. Ultimately, I'm jumping at the top of the line O when it comes out. I love my o96's. I'll gladly take more of that with added refinement!

John DeVore come on down with you next creation. I'm ready!

sent from my mobile device with a predictive spelling algorithm..., yippee!

99 is the next version of the Nines in the gibbon series I believe. I don't think he was referring to an O/99 in the orangutan series.

Yes, it will fall in the Gibbon line. I believe that it will be called the 99. Regardless, there will be something coming down the pike at one point. It will fall between the 88's, and Silverbacks.

And I believe between the 99s and Silverbacks will be the Gibbon Xs. Quite a line up! I wonder if he will revise the Silverbacks after having worked on the O series.

Sure seems to me that the O96's are already above the Gibbons. So I would expect the 3rd Orangutan to be the best yet and right on pair with the silverback, and possibly better. Just my 2 cents. Regardless, I fully intend to make the move to it once it is birthed...!
