Arrow Lyra Kleos

Wow, wow, wow.

On a Rega P9 with RB1000 tone arm. I'm running it through a Lehman Black Cube Decade in my MAXX3 system. The bass goes deeper than anything I've heard in a home system. Lyra claims 10Hz and I absolutely believe it.

Aerosmith...She's looking good. Well given that the Lyra Delos has already gotten rave reviews (I saw the preview at TAS and it got a big thumbs up), then the Lyra Kleos must be a big step up. I am sure it will get its fair share of accolades in the reviewing press over the next 6-12 months. Let us know how she's breaking in and if the sonic character of the cartridge changes with break-in. Thanks

Thanks, as always, Cyril. Right now the one word that comes to mind with the Kleos is BIG. Big soundstage. Big bass extension. And a very full, satisfying sound. It definitely prefers the SS phono-pre to the PH6. It was a little too heavy with the tubes.

Many thanks. It's nice to have an awesome dealer to help keep me on track.

I waited a long time for the Kleos on his advice. I'm so glad I did.

What Phono Stage do you plan to settle on?

Settled on the Lehman Black Cube Decade for the Kleos/P9/Boulder 810/ARC DS450/MAXX3 system. That room is very big and quiet. So I like the sound better with the solid state Lehman. With the PH6 the sound was a bit heavy and dark.

I am very impressed by the resolution of the Lehman. I had it in a much brighter room for a while with a Lyra Delos and didn't care for it at all. Too much resolution for a bright room. But it really seems a perfect fit where it is now. I have a bit of an urge to try Lehman's top of the line Silver Cube. I'm also hearing that Boulder's 1008 is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

It was a very LONG wait to get this phono rig going. First my P9 order got botched. Then while waiting on the proper P9 my dealer and I decided to wait further for the Kleos to come out. Well worth the wait. The Kleos has such a full/complete sound from top to bottom. Most impressive. I may put one on the P7 in the bedroom.

I am also hearing AMAZING things about Boulders new phone pre... seems like it would have great synergy with your pre...

But, at a HUGE price...

Enjoy what you have.

Enjoy what you have: great advice. I'm definitely at the end of the project. Just listening to a lot of music now. The Decemberists' Hazards of Love on vinyl anyone?

What is the MSRP on the 1008? I'd ask my dealer but I don't want to get him in a lather. Yeah, it's got to go great with the 810.

Silver Cube is 5 grand.

This Black Cube Decade may be one of the most satisfying components I've heard for the money.

BTW, I hear a new Boulder DAC is coming out in the new year: 820. It'll have all the usual connections and USB and ethernet.

AeroSmith...the 1008 goes for $12K list. Here's a Stereophile review: Stereophile: Boulder Amplifiers 1008 phono preamplifier

Thanks Cyril! I think they reviewed several very expensive phono-preamplifiers in that issue, IIRC. The Boulder was actually the, ahem, bargain product?
