Ortofon 2M Black Is Breaking In Nicely.

Today I moved the Micro Seiki turntable to the left side of the new Salamander rack's top shelf to allow me to use a one meter pair of interconnects, verses the two meter pair I had been using in the studio, as well as when I first installed it back into the main system. I now have a one meter pair of Tributaries Silver 9A unbalanced interconnects in place.

After a couple of hours listening to familiar albums, adjusting the capacitance on the C1000P, and finally settling on 150Pf of cartridge loading plus the capacitance of the Tributaries 9A interconnects, I have my vinyl spinning rig sounding absolutely amazing. With approximately 25 hours on the Ortofon 2M Black, it is breaking in very nicely, sounding articulate, unrestrained, with a well defined, richly textured, deep and solid bottom end. The midrange is open, clear, and stunningly dynamic. Voices sound so human, filled with life and breath. The top end shimmers with bell and triangle clarity, displaying a very natural metallic crispness on cymbals. I am quite amazed at the entire sonic presentation of the Ortofon 2M Black moving magnet phono cartridge.

I have never heard my vinyl rig sound better than it is sounding today. I have been playing one album after the other all day, and have continuously been pulled into the music. The analog sound is now at the compact disk level, and that is blowing my mind. The Micro Seiki turntable with the Ortofon 2M Black phono cartridge, playing through the awesome phono stage of the C1000P is delivering an analog experience that I have never heard in any of my systems before, ever! I am awe struck, to say the least. It is wonderful. Vinyl is definitely back in the mix, and I am so happy I did not bail out on trying to get more out of my turntable and vinyl. It is now paying huge dividends.

I don't have the adjustment capabilities you have on the C1000, but it still sounds pretty amazing.

Atta boy, Dan! I'm glad you're finding that audio bliss you've been searching for in analog-land. I continue to tell folks that they can put all kinds of peaks, and tweaks, and time, and $, and effort, into their audio system, but the best bang-for-the-buck is with improving transducers. Ok, now I'll step off my soap box.......................................

Chuck.......Trade or sell the C2200 for a C2300. You'll aquire an improved moving magnet phono stage, a new moving coil phono stage, and remote control of cartridge loading for both MM and MC phono cartridges. In addition, you will also have remote control of balance, plus remote control of bass and treble settings. On top of all that there's plenty more to like about the C2300.

Dan pushed me over the edge, and now, I too, have a Oftofon 2M Black on my Micro Seiki DD-40.

I am actually astounded by the improvement...

A great investment in my vinyl playback.
