Default Anyone try a DB1 or new PV1D with 805D's?

It may be too early to ask about the new PV1D, as I think it has just recently been released...
Wondering if anyone has any extended experience using either of these subs with the 805D?

Nope, I run a REL R305 with my 805Ds...it integrates really well.

Hi KahunaCunuck,

A few questions if you don't mind...

What is the power rating on your Rel? Class D amp or A/B?
Do you run it from the speaker level inputs?
What crossover level have you found to best integrate with the 805D's?

Maybe I need to audition/consider a Rel. One of my local dealers handle them, but I have never spent any time with them.
The previous version of the B&W PV1 is the only sub I have owned or had any experience with...

Thank you in advance for the info.

I have a pv1 in my bedroom system, it is a good little sub, but the R305 is in a different league and about the same price. they are D class amps, I think mine is 300 watts but that number is a little misleading. The key to me is how they use a high level connection, meaning it connects off of your speaker outputs on your amp. This is why they integrate so well. I have never tried a JL in this system, I have 2 in my theatre, and they are amazing subs as well, though they don't use the same kind of connection. Click on Sumiko one of the site sponsors below, they import REL and have some good info on their site. The newer model is the R328. I want to upgrade sometime to the new G1 or G2, they look amazing.

I have my crossover at 80 I think or 100...I'll have to look.

Hi Bavarian05 - I have a B&W DB1 and 805D2s as rear speakers in my setup. I'm extremely happy with the DB1.

When I first purchased the 805Ds, I couldn't wait to give them a test drive, so I set them up as my front speakers for several days and spent time listening with and without the DB1 in the system. The 805D and DB1 is a wonderful match - IMHO.

After driving around the southeast for months last year listening to just about everything made, I picked the DB1 because I really liked the way it sounds (and looks!) with my other B&Ws - 802D2s and HTM2 Diamond. The more I listen to it, the more I like it. In fact, I'm waiting on a second one.

Hope this is helpful.

Terry

Hi Terry,

Thank you for the info.
What do you think of the DSP software and PC interface on the DB1?
Effective? Easy or time consuming to use?

Bavarian05 - The DB1 software, SubApp, is very effective and simple to use. It's basically set and forget. The DB1 sounded fantastic right out of the box, so I spent about week with it before running SubApp. The end result in my setting was a more focused and solid bass.

My only wish for improvement would be a MacOS version of SubApp.

HTH!

Terry
