The SA11S2 disc player doesn't have a remote trigger jack, so I have to turn that on manually.

None of these components power on or off from the remote - you have to use the front panel switch. So all the remote trigger does is to save you from pressing one more power switch. But at least some of the Marantz Reference gear does have remote power connections.
Hello.
Bobschneider, excuse me for the off-topic question, but I have the same gear and now I am looking for the standmount speakers and cables. Please could you tell me what speakers do you use now or maybe have tried (what is the right choice and what is wrong) with your Marantz gear and what cables (all of them - interconnects, speaker and power cables ) do you use? What do you think, maybe some cables are better than you have now? Thanks a lot in advance!

I'm currently using PMC Ob1i speakers, which are 3 way floor standers. Prior to that I used a pair of North Creek Borealis, which are a kit I built as floorstanders, although they can also be built as stand mounts. I'm using mostly Kimber for cables, Hero balanced between the electronics, and an ancient set of 8TCs to the speakers. I'm not really tempted to upgrade any of this!

What are the dimensions of your listening room and what is the furniture? What kind of floor you have? Is there any acoustic treatment?
Do you have any power regenerator or conditioner?

The room is roughly 15 X 12, with a 9' ceiling. Bookcases full of books cover most of two walls, including the one behind the speakers. Most furniture is hard (dominated by a large walunt desk), except for one overstuffed recliner and a wool rug on the floor. Floor itself is wood over concrete slab. No acoustic treatment other than the bookcases. I have a Shunyata Guardian power conditioner, and some of their power cables, although I'm still not convinced that they make an audiable difference (I haven't tried pulling them out of the system to check, though).
