Funny, it just occurred to me that I've been using a Boulder phono-preamplifier for nearly two years now. It's just that it's built into the 1012 we use in the bedroom. What a great "do it all" pre that is.

Aerosmith...how does the 1012 compare to the 810 pre you are using in the main system? I ask because if they are comparable in performance, then just for sh*ts and giggles, you may want to insert the 1012 in your main system with the Maxx3s and run the Kleos through the 1012's phono and through the Lehmann Cube routed through the 1012 to compare if there is a jump up in performance or not. I am sure the 1008 is leaps and bounds better than the phono in the 1012 but if they have a common Boulder house sound, this may give you a feel for what a P9/Kleos/1008 combo might sound like. Just a thought.

What is your preferred genre of music on the main analog rig or do you mix it up? Thx

Excellent, idea, Cyril!

Not quite the same -but a heck of a lot easier-, I think I'm going to try the P9/Kleos up on the 1012 system. I can also try the Lehman through the 1012. It won't give me the MAXX3s but it will allow me to a/b the Lehman and the 1012.

If I like the Kleos through the 1012 I may have to pick one up for the Rega P7. Right now that TT is using a Rega Exact MM cartridge. OK, but not anywhere near the resolution of a Lyra.

Mostly Jazz I guess. This is what's played on the Kleos in the week I've had it, more or less.

Coltrane: Love Supreme on 45 LP
Miles: Kind of Blue 50th anniversary
John McLaughlin and Carols Santana: Love, Devotion, Surrender (basically Love Supreme again)
Madeleine Peyroux
Norah Jones
Gil Evans Orchestra: Out of the Cool on 45 LP (has to be one of my all time favorite albums!)
Bill Evans: the re-releases on 45 LP.
And a non-Jazz album for you, Ray Lamontagne: God Willin' and the Creek Don't Rise

Can I tell you something? They may sound better, but 45 LPs drive me nuts. Just when I'm getting relaxed the side ends. Sheesh.

That should gave you a baseline to compare the phonos. Enjoy the experiment and let us know what you think.

Very nice My kind of music. Some classics in there ofcourse. As for 45s, what's the saying: "no pain no gain?" A pain, I hear you Keep that vinyl spinning.

I must admit I am quite interested in this cartridge.

The Boulder 1008 is fantastic. I had great luck with it here with my Dorian and Skala. Got a Kleos on the way, so glad to hear you like it that much. Going to go right on my P9, so that should be a great match.

Did you use a tonearm spacer or just as is?
