Default Momentum s250 or progression mono's?

Anyone compare the momentum s250 to the progression mono's? Looking for some thoughts and opinions on this...

Can’t say that I have compared the two but have listened to the Progression Stereo driving Alexia’s and it sounded very much D’Agostino. I do believe you benefit from the Mono’s pumping more power to each speaker providing a clearer, more transparent fuller sound but this selection costs more for the obvious duplicity and the additional cost of the extra power cord and isolation. With that being said, these bad boys command respect since the Progression is much larger then the Momentum, filling space in a good way and if I recall your not dealing with racks, plus you have the Alexia. Mono all day long!

Looking forward to others inputs and your selection as replacement.

I'd concur. Given the nasty impedance curve of the Alexias, you'll need gobs of power to drive them right. They are in that regard very similar to my Maestros. Progression monos are the clear pick with your speakers.

Edit: didn't you just sell an S200?

Yes I did sell an s200. It was very good with my Alexia 1's! I miss it already. My old trusty Electrocompaniet AW250R is playing substitute currently. It's a sweet sounding amp but just not as refined as the Dag.

Thanks for your help and advice!

Why did you sell the S200? It's strange that you sold that when you could have upgraded it to S250 and you're asking about that versus the progression monos.

This is kind of what I wanted to know, too.

I would take the Progression Mono's over the Momentum Stereo for the additional power and symmetry tool!

Because I'm leaning heavily toward mono's... and I don't mind buying used equipment and dealer demo's. And if I were to buy an s250 I'd prefer an original version instead of an upgraded one.

I have not heard the s250 yet but have heard the Momentum M300 monoblocks in my system. I now have a brand new pair of Progression monoblocks I just purchased that are now in my system. I would suggest monoblocks if possible.
