And within the EU and the EUR countries, differences in VAT (19% - 25%) amongst other factors lead to different prices as well. In addition driving a car to another country is not for free and costs money as well. Cheaper if you add all your expenses ? (Seeming is utopy, calculation on real offers is reality.) Martin |

My speakers are from a French dealer (and I sold my previous pair to a Danish audiophile who came to pick them up), and my SACD player is from Belgium. Today I listened in detail to some Accuphase amps in ... Germany. Europe is small! And as this is the E-480 page: It seems that this machine will be a very huge step forward in comparison with the E-470. The E-470 had no chance against a the E-650 today, that is a fantastic machine (and far better than the E-600). It is amazing how the engineers from Accuphase are able to progress. |

I did also hear the E-480, but not with the Esoteric source, on Scala Utopia v2 speakers.
So, I listened actually to everything up to the small separate combo. The E-480 is AB and the E-650 is A. Similar to the P-4200 (or P-4500) that are AB, while the A-47 is class A, I would proposing the following, a little risky, comparison with classical guitars that have either a spruce (epicea) or cedar table. The spruce (E-480 or P-4200) is faster, more transparent, more powerful and clear. The cedar (E-650 or A-47) is more round, slower, with nicer colors. Both have their advantages and problems. That's a long and ongoing debate. It depends on the music you hear and the system you have. Like with the guitars, the best would be to have both... |

Scala cedar or spruce?
I think, between cedar and spruce, Scala is more cedar than spruce, so it would make sense to go with 480 (I am just guessing). In comparison, I think Wilson Sasha is more spruce than cedar when compared to Scala.
I wonder how would Soulution 330 sound with Scala? The specification numbers of 330 are much better than both 650 and 480 |

Hi everybody, I have bought B&W 802D3
But I have not decided to buy E480 or E650 now I have no enough money to buy pre-amp and power-amp my plan: 1. E480 -> in the future add A250 -> final replace E480 with C3850 2. E480 -> in the future add P7300 -> final replace E480 with C3850 3. E650 -> in the future add P7300 -> final replace E650 with C3850 Which plan is better? To spend less money, I'd go for the E-650 and later add an A-48 for the low end to do biamplification. The E-650 has a fully balanced volume control similar to that of the C-3850 and is Class A. The E-480 does not have a fully balanced volume control and is not Class A . If unsure, I'd highly recommend to do a listening comparison E-650 vs E-480, but please be aware that sources and cables might influence the results.
