Firmware is updated, this happens with both TVs I've used. Both Samsung. I don't even use hdmi. The video is going to the TV, I'm only using optical out to the mx150.

Buck,

HDMI is no going through to the TV only, optical to the mx150.

In my opinion and experience, stay away from McIntosh digital. Their products are forgotten after introduction and do not hold any value for resale at least processors. Mx150, 151, 160. Firmware updates seemed to cause more trouble than anything. Amps are a different and better story.
Not what I want to hear, don't have 3k to drop on repair for months. Nor do I have that much or more for a new unit.

Are you trying to run a 110v US version of the 150 in Japan? Even with a convertor that is risky.

Running a converter to a PS Audio PPP. Voltage is consistent and normal.

Can you return the unit for a refund or credit?

Doubt it, bought in 2012. Maybe a trade in. For that I'd rather sell it outright and be done with mcintosh

Don't be done with McIntosh in general. It's just their AV/HT processors that are not very good. All of the amps, pre-amps, and speakers are excellent.

It's really unfortunately seeing McIntosh trying to make every piece of equipment in HT and resulting in subpar pieces such as the MX series processors.

Hopefully your issue won't be a severe or as expensive to repair. It's the time that really bothers me. My unit smoked my whole room out. In its defense, i did get about 5 solid years out of the second unit and always enjoyed the sonics but I had to move on. Couldn't justify 14k for an Mx160 when I'd hardly use all the features. The Bryston fit my needs.

Have you had a McIntosh MX series fail in the past? My MX150 has been a superb performer and continues to impress for the type use it gets in my house.
