If you don't like the default app, you may also try other OpenHome control points such as Linn Kazoo, Bubble DS Next, or UPnP control points such as JRiver (which supports SACD ISO), etc.

Does anyone have any feedback on how this beast performs? Would love to hear more from those that have been fortunate enough to secure one!

I've had mine for almost a month. I like it. It compels you to discover what you've been missing on all your CD's since 1986.

brodricj, is that easy to set and navigate?, did you try Tidal on N-01?
Thanks. |

My only source for the N-01 is a Kaleidescape player at CD quality via RCA input. I have tested network input via USB stick and Ethernet with DSD64/128 content, and Spotify premium service via USB input, and it all sounds great. I'm hoping the embedded Spotify support software upgrade will come soon so I can dispense with needing a computer to run the Spotify app.

For navigation UI and Tidal access, the usage of Esoteric Sound Stream app is identical to the usage of Lumin app. You'll be able to google more comments on the UI aspects of the Lumin app. (You could also choose to use Linn Kazoo app or Bubble DS Next.)

Those apps are what they are and I don't have much time for them. The Kaleidescape app trounces them all, and I feel I'm not missing anything putting CD quality content through the N-01 compared to the various lossless or hi-res formats.

Esoteric released network module firmware update to support MQA Full Decoding (N-01 only) and Spotify Connect.
Since the MQA decoding is done in the network module, MQA decoding only works for network input (NAS / Tidal) and USB storage. It does not work for other digital inputs. To try Tidal MQA, there are currently 3 kinds of free trial: - 12 days "No Strings Attached" free trial from http://tidal.com/try-now - 60 days free trial via http://tidal.com/masters - 90 days free trial (via a third party) There are over 9900 MQA albums (including duplicates) on Tidal, find the list by google "The most complete list of MQA albums" for the file MQA_List.csv from a certain forum Last edited by wklie; 12-27-2017 at 04:51 AM. |

The sound I'm now getting from N01 after firmware update is nothing short of a revelation. I'm so pleased I bought it instead of K01X. Everything works with no surprises. Or rather, there has been one surprise. Spotify playback via network sounds better than playing the same CD. I'm spending 5+ hours per day in-front of N01 and I'm consistently getting better sound from Spotify than spinning the same on a CD.
Another thing, the book says G02X clock takes about 10 minutes to warm up, but my listening suggests it takes about an hour for the N01/G02X system to start sounding its best from a cold start. I was contemplating buying Gradioso K1 before the price rise, but I see no reason for spinning CD again. |

- The network module is automatically updated by the Esoteric Sound Stream app or Lumin app - The I/F firmware needs to be manually updated using a PC running Windows 7 or above, via the update available from: http://www.esoteric.jp/products/esot..._driver_e.html Last edited by wklie; 01-01-2018 at 11:10 PM. |
