They're both silver correct? I looked at the wind, price jumps quite a bit compared to the earth.

Don't really buy used gear, just a thing I have, so that probably isn't an option. Unless I found new old stock somewhere.

Personally I love purchasing used cables. 50% or more off and they're already broken-in. I understand not purchasing other used components, but in my mind cables are different, but to each their own.

Well I didn't say it was smart, but with cables that have DBS etc I would feel more comfortable new. Didn't notice any break in difference with my Oaks anyway, DBS eliminates that.

I'm right there with you on that one; saves burning in new cables. Though, with the Audioquest DBS, they sound pretty darn good right out of the box.

I buy way too much gear -- both new and used, lol. I've had mostly excellent used-buy experiences, and that includes a couple of Koetsu Platinum cartridges. You do have to be a bit careful with used AQ cables, in that you must verify them as genuine (or trust the sellers's ability to do same). Most of the Chinese knock-offs look pretty poor, though.

And I think I've still noticed a bit of break-in with new AQ DBS cables. It's not drastic, and maybe there's a strong element of personal "break-in" towards getting used to a new sonic signature, but I've got a WEL Signature LP phono and Fire XLR cables that I like better now than when they were brand new. In fact, I slightly preferred my old Wild LP to the new WEL LP for a while. Same thing happened with a brand new Bob's Devices Sky 40 SUT vs. an old 1131 -- now the Sky 40 totally surpasses it, but at first is was a bit dynamically restricted.

I find that there is at least a 100 hour break in. The thing is that silver needs more break in than copper or other alloys used in components and audio. Silver caps are the worst and why Ayre products take around 500 hours (I own 2 and have owned others).

I will say IRT digital cables, that there is a reason to go with 1.5m over shorter ones. My digital friends could share the differences. I know a few dealers who won't even try to sell anyone less than 1.5m digital interconnects. I've had more than a few 'digital' buddies share this with me and no they don't sell anything. These are some of the lead posters on computer audiophile and they've also helped me set up my optical isolation ethernet for my server. Digital is affected by SOOOO many things that it's impossible for even most of the ardent followers to keep up.

Never heard of silver capacitors...
