Default Mp100

Does anyone have experience with the MP100 ss phono stage? I am currently using a Manley Chinook but feel tube stage plus tube preamp is a bit too warm. The reviews seem to be positive but I trust the members of this site for their opinions. Thank you in advance of any replies.

Yes, I borrowed one from a dealer for a week. I found it to be a low performer. It was not very transparent and reminded me of the built in phono stages in many of their pre-amps. For around the $2K price range I found the Sutherland 20/20 easily outperformed it. I used them back to back in a blind shoot out with a friend and he picked the Sutherland by far, matching my thoughts.

My dealer offered it to me for a home demo.It had zero hrs on it and had about fifty when I returned it.It sounded great from the start and improved with use.To me the bass was low and tight and defined. The mids were very good and the highs a little hot at first but mellowed a bit as the hours went by.I only used the mc input with a Dynavector 20x2L on a Music Hall 9.1 into a Sonic Frontiers SFL-1,MC-252,Klipsch RF-7II Speakers.I considerd buying it but I do like what I have now.I think it may be what you are looking for.Cheers

I guess reviews are mixed.

If you already have a decent Mac preamp, then you might want to see if you can compare the phono stage of that with the standalone MP100.

I am in a similar boat. Running a 2105 and a C28, just picked up the MP100 from Audio Classics. But I'm using an Ortofon 2M Blue MM Cart with a brand new VPI Prime Scout. I really can't tell a huge benefit from the MP100, as much as I want to. wondering with an MM cart if it's even worth having in the system. I'm sure with an MC or MI cart it would be a different story. Anyone else have thoughts?
