Default Help eliminate "soap opera effect" Oppo BDP93

I am a new Oppo user which I use for home theater duty, connected to my projector. Occasionally the picture looks "too real" almost like it is shot from a home video camera, creating the infamous "soap opera effect" so common with HDTV's running a high refresh rate if that makes sense.

I know the OPPO must be to blame as I never had this issue with my previous player (cheap-o Panasonic).

Any advice on how to properly calibrate the bdp93 for a more natural "filmic" look?

I use Source Direct (which usually keeps blurays at 1080p24 unless they were transferred in 1080p60 or 1080i).

It is very likely your display is the culprit. Perhaps you engaged Cinema Creation or Frame Creation by mistake.

Are you watching BD or DVD?

BD's so far. It seems to only jump on certain scenes. I'll try to find source direct and cinema creation in the menu.

Doggiehowser,

I reread this post and wanted to mention that I doubt it is the display. I use a Mitsubishi projector (which has always been my display), and didn't notice any issue until i replaced my blu ray player (now the Oppo). I don't see any motion settings in the projector menu.

Have you tried calling Oppo tech support? I've had good success with them.
