A little update on my system which has not had any upgrades in a couple of years. That’s almost an eternity for an audiophile.
In the last few months I replaced most of the shunyata cords with Audioquest Firebird and hurricane cords.
Replaced the AQ wild blue interconnect with WEL between Pre-Amp and amps.
Lastly, just upgraded the ARC REF250 to REF250 SE.

System sounds pretty good now. Thinking about adding an Aurender music server in the near future.

Very nice, and welcome to AA! But you do realize that this thread is sorely missing something... Pics! [emoji23]

Hi Marc,

Long time member just don’t post as much. I think there are some photos in the first page of the thread. Photos are a few years old and need some updating.

The AQ cords sound more dynamic and have more detail in my system. I replaced most of my shunyata sigma HC and Alpha HC cords.
The AQ Firebird has similar characteristic as Hurricane just a bit more detail
but at 2x the price. Hurricane is the best in terms of performance to price ratio.

New guy, can you be more specific about Hurricane vs Firebird? Thanks!

Hi johndoe,

I am not very good with audio adjectives. When I first hooked up the Firebird, I didn’t hear much a difference from Hurricane ford, but when I did a back to back comparison of the cords, the difference became more obvious. The FB sounded less veiled. The instruments had a bit more air, decay and detail. It has similar sound to Hurricane just more refined. I was told by AQ that FB’s performance is closer to the Dragon than Hurricane. The difference was enough that I am adding two more FB cords to my system.

Recently upgraded the krell S1200 surround processor to a krell Evolution 707. It’s an oldie but it still sounds really good in two channel and home theater. It doesn’t have Atmos, but I am ok with it. Good sound quality is my priority. I am using krell CAST connection and it sounds pretty good.
