Wel cables and IC's installed!
Installation went without a hitch. The dealer had the head installer do it. This is a huge store and he is very skilled. He said I had the best sounding system he'd ever heard. He got so mesmerized he left his coat on the floor and had to come back and get it. I'll soon be posting pics. Initially, all I can say is WOW! Even a cursory listen, these cables and IC's sound awesome. And they are the perfect length. I did my homework well.

That's great! Until recently I never seriously considered Audioquest cables, but thanks to a fellow audiophile they have become the foundation of my system. I look forward to reading your thoughts on the WEL cables.

Pictures. 4th pic shows completed installation. Pics 5-7 show sources, preamps etc. I will post more extensive listening impressions at a later time. I just haven't had the time. I do want to say now that a veil has been lifted from over my system. The whole musical picture is like looking through a window that has been washed. I don't hear any harshness at all. At the same time there has been a great increase in clarity/transparency. So far I am very pleased. Also the quality of the cables is incredible. They are beautiful. Their workmanship is right up there with my Alexx. Although they were/are extremely expensive they were easy to work with. I was very concerned about many things and laid awake at night some worrying about things like are they too stiff to make the curves? What if I get hum? What if they don't fit my equipment. Is this a monumental waste of money? Etc. But now that they are in I'm very pleased so far and the cost is receding in my memory.

Good luck Charles
Wonderful system. I hope someone can tell us why photos taken right side up get downloaded to the site sideways. This happens to me on some, but not all, pictures whenever I try to post them here.

Thank you so much! I have worked so hard to get this far. I love these cables and IC's. Remember, I lived with copper all my audio life. I lived with excellent but much less highend speakers and equipment for many years. The highend for me has been a series of steps. I think I've paid my dues to own cables like these. But it became obvious to me that my Alexx badly needed better cabling because there was such a discrepancy between the quality of the immediate external connections and the wiring inside the speakers. I can tell everyone right now that silver cables are definitely superior to copper. My sound is noticeably smoother. All the grain is gone. The midrange already spectacular has been elevated to a new level. The cymbals sound so much better. Sibilants are noticeably smoother. These cables and IC's are worth every penny. I have heard no drawbacks, just improvements and the improvements are not minor, they are major.

The beauty about the WEL is that the sound is smoother, the spacing between images are better, and the imaging is more solid and localizeable.
The only thing I might question is bass reproduction, but that's a minor quibble if at all. |
