Hi

The BUC-1 is PCM digital files only - no DSD. If you want DSD you have to use our BDA3 DAC.

Silenzio can transcode to PCM on the fly. It will prompt you when you try to play a DSD file through it, just say yes and it *should* work.

Emile,
What will that do to sound quality?
Thanks.

Usually nothing... but it depends on the DAC. In your case, you probably won't hear the difference between the transcode versus the native DSD over USB since the Esoteric can handle it all with aplomb.

So Emile,
BUC-1 vs PS Recovery? Your thoughts? You know the Silenzio better than anyone.
Thanks.

IMHO I wouldn't think the BUC-1 is the right component to put between your Silenzio and a K-03X given how beautifully the K-03X handles DSD.

Alternatives, if you feel so inclined, are the W4S Recovery, Uptone Regen, or JCAT USB Isolator. I'm sure there are others. I have the JCAT product on the way after trying the PS Audio LANRover.

Best bet may be a good USB cable and nothing else between!

WW Plat Starlight still my go-to and favorite USB cable. No joke it does make a difference; I was skeptical at first until I started banging around with a bunch of them (from the bargain basement bin to ultra-high-end).

It is the 'no brainer' category.
