Delicious One + AudioQuest SKY 72v dbs 1m RCA to RCA
I am really excited about the Delicious One that Volks gave me. I am looking at buying the AudioQuest SKY 72v dbs 1m RCA to RCA as a strong compliment. I have yet to connect it since I do not have any RCAs - Yet!
I like AudioQuest products and the majority now of system cables are AQ. Anyway, the retail for this cable I am considering is $2500. I can buy it local for around $700 bucks! Thoughts and hoping Alberto chimes in... |

Just a suggestion to be cautious about purchasing AQ cables at a big discount, as there are many counterfeit AQ cables in the market. Many have been sold on eBay over the years and it has been well documented. If you cannot verify their authenticity I would stay away.

Buy a $50 pair of cables first to see if The Delicious One delivers for you. If you decide to keep it, then you can upgrade the cables, but keep the following in mind. The Delicious One is designed for 3 basic listening situations: 1) Loudness compensation: For making recordings sound more engaging at lower volumes. 2) Taking the edge from harsh recordings by taming those midrange frequencies to which we are more sensitive and can sound really grating in poorly mastered or digitized recordings. 3) To add fullness to thin recordings. In other words, you typically use The Delicious One when the quality of the recording (or the listening volume) does not take full advantage of the resolving power and clarity of your system. Because of that, it's overkill to spend more than $200 on cables for it -- IMO. Furthermore, since you will be connecting to your C1000 in a way that it can be fully bypassed (i.e. through the processor loop) when you are not using it, those extra cables are completely out of the loop. This way when you want the full clarity and resolving power of your system you have it! Makes sense? Can't wait to get your opinion on The Delicious One. But remember, it's a tool for special listening situations and poor recordings. I would not use it when listening to, say, a great Dire Strait recordings at normal volume. Alberto |
