Naturally, the first thing I had to do when I got it was crack the case to see how the heck they did it. They are using a StarTech IDE to SATA adapter model IDE2SAT. You can find it on Amazon for 25 bucks. I then copied their 1 tb drive (they are using a Seagate enterpise edition drive model Consellation ES.3) to a Samsung 840 EVO-series 1 TB 2.5 SATA III Solid State Drive. I used a Silverstone Tek 3.5 to 2.5 Hard Drive Bay Converter to place the drive in to make it look completely stock. I copied the files on my StarTech Drive Replicator (mentioned in an earlier thread).

What I can say is I have been playing music for 3 days now without issue. I used the Samsung drive because not only is it the cheapest SSD drive out at 400 bucks, it is also the slowest which I think actually helps the MS750 from skipping, etc. I know this was an issue from someone else to tried to do this upgrade. I do notice a huge improvement in accessing data and scrolling thru my database of 550 plus CDs. Internet radio also works flawlessly. I will report back with any know issues. By the way their drive was empty from music, so I linked my other MS750 via the remote server connection to listen. I have also loaded a few CDs to listen for any issues. If problems, I can simply load the Panurgy drive back in, but for now what a huge difference.
Once I get the rebuilt power supply installed I'm going to turn over my MS300 to my son to do an SSD upgrade. I may (will) be in contact with you as he does the update.
This is going to be fun!!!!

Wow, Dan, that is a piece of work...2008...sounds like a piece of cake too. Much obliged. Any better fan been made since 2008 or just go with that one??? Quite is nice, but I am real sucker for reliability. You know, plug, play, doze off and wake up to an MS 300/750 still playing !!!!

Steve.......My little Silenx fan has been in the MS750 for five years now with no issues. I think you can safely consider the Silenx Ixtrema reliable. Amazon has the fan in OEM packaging for less than $10.00.

Amazon.com: Silenx IXP-34-16 Ixtrema Pro Fan 60mm x 25mm OEM Bulk Packaged: Electronics

Thanks much, Dan. I ordered one from Tiger Direct yesterday, but not the 3416, so I hope I got it right. Your post 18 in your excellent fan swap out thread cited a 34-12 which is what I ordered. Should I try to change my order???

Steve.......The Silenx fan I installed is the IXP-34-12. I typed in Silenx IXP-34-12 in my Amazon search but overlooked that it displayed the IXP-34-16.

The Silenx IXP-34-12 fan is quieter at 12dBA while moving 14CFM of air.

The Silenx IXP-34-16 fan is noisier at 16dBA while moving 18CFM of air.

Thanks, Dan. Glad to hear you are happy with the -12. I think I will stick with that.

Fritzcurtis - Are you still happy with your SSD-based MSXXX? Any surprises at all, good or bad?
