Those JBL 4429 speakers look very interesting, too. I am pleased to see JBL still refining the 4312 to its new 4312E level. I love my 4312A's.

Default JBL in Japan

Note that the 4429 is very simular to the Project Array 1400 except that the Japanise don't like their horns to stand on end, but to be placed horizontal. I'm wondering just which models Ivan will be able to get to sell in the US. Many models are only offered in Japan and even though they are built here ( soon Mexico) no one seems to be able to get JBL to release them here. The good thing is that it seems that JBL has finally started to advertise more in the US. The problem, as of now there are not many dealers where you can go to listen to these speakers. Audio Classics now has the Project Array series and can get the Everest, but doesn't have it on the floor as of yet. Do you really want to buy speakers you've never listened to?? As a true JBL lover I would, but I'm funny that way. Over on the Lansing Heritage Forum we've talked about this for years. There, like here, there are even folks on that forum that work for Lansing and it does no good. At least on this forum the McIntosh folks will jump in and talk to us. The products just aren't available in the US, there are no dealers to sell them. Up to now it's been that that if you didn't want to spend over a certain dollar amount they didn't even want to talk to you. Let's hope that is ending and that JBL will come back and be at least somewhat the company we all grew up with. I guess it's WAF that really cut into the really large speakers. Now it seems they are making a come back. Let's hope it continues. Cheers, Frank

I like the looks of the JBL 4429. The 4429's would look very nice in a room on a pair of angled stands.

The JBL 4429 has a 12" woofer, 2" compression driver on mid range 100ー horizontal dispersion horn, and a 3/4" compression driver on a 60ー horizontal dispersion horn. Crossover points are 800 Hz and 7 KHz with an impedance of 6 ohms. The dimensions are 25" x 15" x 13" (H-W-D). Weight is 72 Lbs.

I like them.

I would love to hear a pair of the new JBL 4429 speakers. I was just looking at a website in Japan that is selling them for 232,000 yen each, or $2563.00 at todays exchange rate. $5126 a pair is not a bad price at all. Shipping from Japan is probably not that bad, either. I sure wish these were being sold in the U.S.
