Bill, I read that article and it appears to be content-free.

I moved to a DSD decoding engine for my CD playback and find it to be better than the previous decoding done in PCM.
That some other company may find a way to improve on it? Probably, eventually. Who cares???
Some folks may wait around until the day comes when digital decoding is actually perfect sound forever. By then I bet I will have been long dead.

I’m not sure I can say either format is better ... I think it depends on the mastering process. I have some recordings I think DSD is amazing and others where another rate is better. For me I need a Digital front end that is competent across all rates so I can enjoy recordings in all different formats.

In my listening experience, it comes down to the issuer's production values, technical competence, and--ultimately--execution, execution, execution.

It's all in the quality of the master.

Some PCM cds have great masters, some are crap.

Some DSD masters are terrific, some are crap.

It all depends on how well the engineer does his job.
