XR100 or XR200
If you were given an option to by between these two speakers for the same price, which one would you get and why?

Well in a heart beat the 200s I heard these with 2 601s driving the bottom end, and a 452 amp driving the mids and the tweeters. Wow they are nice..
What kind of price you talking in the used market and the condition? Much fuller sounding system top to bottom. More bass at lower levels, I have felt the imaging and clarity is better as well. A lot more drivers a better crossover network too. Tri-amp support too. Original List Price: 22000.00 PR for the 200s and 10000 PR for the 100s. I would jump all over the 200s if the condition is in great shape $ for $ XR200 Specs Column, 3-Way Point-Source 20 Hz - 45 kHz Response 3 x 8" HP/LD Woofers 19-Element Midrange/Tweeter Array consisting of: 12 x 2" Midrange 7 x 20mm Tweeters 600 Watts Max Continuous Power Handling Single, Bi and Tri-Amp Wiring Capability Shipping weight: 300 lbs. XR100s Specs True 4-way Floor-Standing 30 Hz - 45 kHz Frequency Response 4 x 6" LDHP Woofers 8 x 2" Titanium Midrange 2 x 2" Titanium Tweeters 1 x 3/4" Titanium Super Tweeter 2 Sets of Patented Binding Posts for Bi-Wire or Bi-Amplification 600-Watt Music Power Handling Front-Panel McIntosh Logo Illumination Using Power Control Premium Finishes: Red Walnut, Gloss Black and Pear Maple Shipping weight: 210 lbs. |

I don't like the way Mac voices their speaker these days. They are un-naturally bright and strident so I'll pass. I guess they figure all guys are hard of hearing over the age of 40. I'm not. Even B&W 800 series with the 8 db peak at 10 kHz is to bright. Now Magico are ok, its their mid bass that bothers me or lack of it is a better term. I prefer line arrays, I just wish Mac still built an update XRT 18 or and updated down sized XR 290. They were both easy to listen to. So was the XRT 28. That's what I would be looking for, pre-owned XRT 28's.

I agree with Dave - the 200’s are really well balanced and dynamic. The 100’s are no slouches either so you can’t go wrong either way. Tom
