Hi Joe,

ProAc had a long history ... as far back as I remembered when I was a schoolboy in the 70's, with the Super Tablette being the jewel I have been eying but could not afford back then. It was almost the de-facto rival to the legendary Rogers LS3/5a (and its many other guises, Harbeth, Spendor, JR ..., etc,).

I think the main reason why the brand had not been popular online may probably due to marketing and branding where I dont think its as aggressive as others. Hence ownership are far and few in between. BUT that does not mean its not a great speaker. It is .....

Similar to the speakers I owned, the Meridian DSP8k.2 .. not much write up and reviews (only one thorough review by Stereophile in 2001 - but model had since went thru 3 upgrades, yet no more reviews, unlike the ever popular Wilson WP where every upgrade had many reviews).

You have a wonderful system, the only thing I am confused is if you are using the Cary or AR as your main amplifiers of your speakers.
Cheers!

Thanks guys. I listened to many speakers over the last few years trying to replace my previous speakers. I focus a lot on vocals & I could not find any until the ProAc 2.8. Before this I was using a full range mitsubishi Diatone single driver speakers. The D80r is really something.

Anyway, I've been told ARC is a good match to ProAcs so I decided to check them out. Also the Cary seems to b a good match too. I heard my friend's pair driving his ProAc D38 & it was a very good combo.

I hope to alternate between the ARC set & Cary set depending on my mood. That should be soon as I am still waiting for the Cary preamp which was DOA. My dealer is getting a replacement for me.

Regards,
Joe Ling

Hi Joe;

It looks like you have Real Traps Mega traps in your corners. How well do they deal with your bass? Have you ever tried ASC tubes? If so, how did they compare?

Thanks!

Chuck

The realtraps work real well . I use measurement package from XTZ & I get no room modes in some of the measurements.
