Default PH8 has just arrived and photos complete...

Time to power up and start listening...

Should be an interesting comparison between the PH6 and REF 2 Phono!

Please Jeff, don't tell us that the PH8 is as good as the Ref 2 because I already ordered the 2 !

Actually, Jeff, please do....and quickly. Ahem...hello, my good buddy, Jerome! If you want to simply redirect the shipment of your misguided Ref 2 purchase to Philadelphia, I'll give you a solid fifty fifty cents on the dollar.

Well, it's only got 300 on the clock, but it's not a REF Phono 2. It's very good though. I think ARC has done an excellent job of giving you an equivalent increase in performance at the PH6, PH8 and REF.

Don't get me wrong, the PH8 is nothing to sneeze at!

But Blue C, it would still give you a tremendous step up from your current analog setup! I do not think you would be disappointed!

Personally, I wish you could buy the REF as a one input pre for 11k, the current 2 input model for 12k and perhaps a 3 input model for 13k. The additional gain, EQ and power supply (along with balanced outputs) give it the edge. But some only need one input and other (crazed) people would love a third.

However, that's probably way more trouble than it's worth for ARC. They don't tell me how to run the magazine, so I won't tell them how to make preamps!
