Charles. Great due diligence on your part. Since you will one of the early installations I hope Wilson sends one of their "experts" to support your dealer when it time to place them in your room.

I will be hearing them on Wednesday/Thursday at Paragon.

Thank you Jim. I will be very interested. As far as I know the order has been placed at Wilson. The check will be available by 10 am tomorrow but first the dealer will arrive at my house to sign the contract. Then he will travel to the "bank" to pickup the check. I have already thoroughly reviewed and printed out the contract so it won't take 5 min to sign.

From that point forward it's on Wilson to build me an xvx. I am smitten by the xvx. Every driver is brand new, even the midrange. The time alignment is new. All the details/incidentals (like the crossover housing and binding posts) are new. It's the most amazing speaker I have ever heard of. Wilson will spend years incorporating these innovations into their designs. My recommendation: If you can at all afford it, buy an xvx!

Why is there a contract? I've never signed a contract to buy speakers.

I've always just given some down payment.

Maybe the term Contract is being be used broadly here. Since you have many choices to make relating to paint color, color of the different metal parts, and the color of grille covers the purchase order is more detailed than many other off the shelf speakers.

I have never bought a piece of gear without one. This is a very complex venture. Wouldn't dream of doing it without a detailed contract. And I will only release the check with one signed. Dealer wants one too. It's how we have always done it. It is a contract in which things like color price etc are clearly set forth.

Contract?? I’ve never bought a piece of gear with a contract. Do you mean an invoice stating exactly what’s included? A contract would stipulate there would be some penalty if broken. Is that’s what’s going on here? Not following.

I just have to repeat what I just said. It's the way I've always done business. It says "Contract Between..." I believe that means contract just like "amount" means "amount".

I hope you don't think a contract is inappropriate. It never crossed my mind not to have a deal carefully spelled out, honestly. Actually, when you think about it I have been very specific about the process of this mammoth purchase but very vague about particulars, which is not unintended. I'm a very careful person. Doesn't mean I'm very smart but I try to be careful.

I appreciated Marc's comment about the spikes and Jim's advice about the color (especially Jim's) and Ivan's about the tape measure being the "kiss of death". These made me think.

I checked my accounts just now. Man, this hurts but as I have said in the past, only until I hear the xvx. Then all is quickly forgotten.

I would not spend this type of money without a contract. He’s not buying a Denon receiver from Best Buy.

Good call Charles
