It will be interesting to see if McIntosh uses the new EES SABER32 Reference Audio DAC in there upcoming new MDA1xxx.

If I recall correctly, Ron-C said the new MVP881 does not use the new ESS SABER32 DAC, which I found surprising, especially considering the homerun performance the ESS SABER24 Reference dual quad DAC has had in the MCD500.
So Dan, are you going to upgrade the Oppo to SE given the use of the 32-bit ESS Sabre DAC chip set or are you going to use it solely as a Bluray player and wait for a better player like the Simaudio or others that design around that chip set? I may still upgrade the Oppo just to see and have it around and still go with a better unit down the road. What are your thoughts?

Cyril.......I am not a big fan of surround audio for music. I have discovered a few surround mixes that are appealing, but for the most part surround music doesn't satisfy me in the way that a well set up two channel system does. At this time the jury is still out on whether I will go for the upgrade or not. I like surround sound for movies, but not much for music only.
