Dan.....

You need the "Mind Purifier" to be able to understand the effect of such pieces.
it is sold in all good audio stores for the modest price of 3699 dollars.
It is a black tiny soft component placed in the middle of a pillow and it acts when you sleep. After a few weeks of treatment, your mind is ready to accept all the strange improving sound products that you can find on the market.

At one point or another each of us was derisive of speaker cables mattering. Or isolation working. Let's wait on the report from the two fellows doing the auditions and see what they say.

+1, give me silver plated OCC & Teflon tubing braided with flexo conductive any day.

We took the time to visit the MIT stand at the recent Melbourne HIFi show to look at the passive "pole" hierarchy. I was presented with the $65k Oracle loudspeaker cable "system". Their reference loudspeaker cable was hooked up to a pair of $6k loudspeakers. I asked the rep 2 questions:

1. How could anyone justify spending $65k for a pair of loudspeaker cables to drive a set of $6k speakers?
2. Can you open the alloy box so we can take a look at how the cable run is joined together?

Unsurprisingly, He couldn't answer neither question, but thought there were magnets of sorts inside.

IMO, MIT is a crock of bull. The $6k speakers still sounded ordinary. Do MIT do carbolic smoke-balls too?

Has anyone here actually cracked open a MIT black box with a grinder or sledgehammer or something, even a $500 3-pole box? How about hack-sawing open a bybee box? Maybe, they're just full of bond-crete?

Does anyone have any MIT black-box pics to show?

I know, let's start a hack-saw fund so that we can get to the bottom of the illusion... I'll be happy to throw the first $50 bucks into the fund just for the laugh...

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Pardon my ignorance, but perhaps they work just like "the 3 sea-shells" - John Spartan No apologies here, whatever floats your boat but I challenge the consensus to prove objectively otherwise.

If you own the Bybee products feel free to comment, otherwise post being considerate.

I do look forward to reading the evaluations of this post & do not mean to disparage the thread... It is light hearted banter with a purpose to foster this discussion. Nevertheless, this is a gray, nebulous & highly subjective area of the AV industry that deserves scrutiny especially for the benefit of unsuspecting buyers being sold on the hype. Clearly, when it comes to black-box, there are 2 schools of thought here. As such, I don't mind copping it on the chin especially if there is qualitative science that is being demonstrated behind the product.

Dan, they're "tone controls" as much as your Silver Eclipse 6's are. If not, we'd all be using lamp cord.

CNT loudspeaker cables instead of traditional copper derivatives. Now if that becomes a technical realization, then of course it would be revolutionary...
