Best way to unpack an Amati Anniversario

Hi folks,

I should be getting my Amati's in a couple of weeks. Knowing its a large and heavy speaker, I was wondering what would be the best way of unpacking and assembling them without risking any scratches to the finish.

Any suggestions are most welcome. Also, if you have pictures of unpacking your pair, please share them.

ronenash.......Get someone to help you. It is too easy for things to get out of hand when you are handling floor standing speakers by yourself.

Most speaker manufacturers are pretty good at providing unpacking instructions with their gear. All of my larger speakers came with some type of instructions. Either on the side of the box or and open me first packet.

Open the boxes upside down -- with the base pointing up and remove them from the packing. Leave the protective foam around the portion that is now on the floor. Install the base plate and when the plate is installed, carefully lay the speaker on the floor (if a bare floor -- use a heavy blanket to cover the floor) and upright the speaker so it is now standing on the base plate.

You definitely need a helper or two!!!!!!!!!!!

See post #55 in this thread for a nice picture. IMO, I would not install the spikes until the speaker was in the general area of where it was to be situated. Just tilt the speaker on the base & screw in the spikes.

Jim -- I don't believe that's the case with the AA's as I just ran thru their manual. I also believe there was no mention in the manual of how to remove the Strads (like make sure they were upside down, etc).

Don't they know Americans require directions for everything? How else are we going to ignore them?

I know I disregarded the "requires two people" when unpacking my MBL's.

Okay, In was wrong -- need more coffee ------ just went upstairs in the attic and looked at my boxes and then grabbed my manual.

This is probably true with AA's -- but my boxes state, open other side. With the manual comes a seperate, red 3 page colored "print paper" that has 'picture' instructions on removing the speakers from the box & installing the grill cord brackets (on page 2). The 3d page shows a diagram of the speakers upside down in the box & showing the base plate installation. Page 2 also addresses cleaning guidelines.

Anyway, getting back to the original OP -- there will be an addenium sheet covering how to unpack the AA's - it's not in the manual. Look for something similiar like what I posted in #7 above.
