Okay, the next step in this journey has arrived. I hope to unbox it in the next day or two just to make sure it works. I can't install it into the system yet due to the unsettled rack issues, but I hope to do that this weekend, as it's sounding like my friend may be coming then to get the TV console so I can use my Sanus EFAV40 and set up the system with its new "commanding officer," as it were.

I bought a Tube Cube and 6 JJ ECC803s 12AX7s from the Tube Depot. I have them here and they're quite...tiny. They always look bigger in photos. I've also called the audio store (Lyric Hi-fi) and asked them to ship the C2300, even though I'm not ready for it, technically. I didn't really want it to sit there much longer. I'm also planning to give a hard deadline to the person who wants my Hooker console, probably the end of the month.
Holy Cow Man! I thought I made myself mental with all the audio thoughts.

oh.. I think any glove that protects the oils from your skin getting on the tubes.. but I don't care, I touch them in the raw.

Again, have lots and lots of fun with your new preamp!

Perhaps, but this is about more urgent things to do. Dinner, for one. And getting work done on my Sunday school lesson to get me ahead so I can devote Saturday to the Great Rack Exchange (provided my friend indeed comes Saturday—still not certain).

There is always taking a break later on today, though . . .

Charles...congrats on your new 2300. It's a wonderful preamp that will mate perfectly with the 501's.

It's confirmed, she's coming tomorrow around 2:30. Meantime, I have a lot of work to do in here. I have to swap out my computer rack and take down the stereo PLUS get my Sunday school work in. A busy evening tonight and day tomorrow.

I did take the unit out of its box for a quick inspection. It seems in good shape. If all goes well, it will be set up tomorrow and I'll actually hear it with my equipment. As a demo unit it should be broken in, but on the other hand it hasn't been used for a month now. We'll see what happens.
