That is OUTSTANDING! Way to go! : thumbsup:

Thanks everyone. The best part is that it's all fun (although I don't listen to my system as much).

I find a walkman with my H3's keeps the morale up nicely.

I use a headset to play classical music at low volume while riding on dedicated bike paths, and so I can hear my phone.

However, I do not play music when riding in a group or cycling on public roads with traffic. On some group rides (e.g. Diabetes Tour de Cure) headphones are banned anyway. I think for good reason.

Thanks. To go fast in Forest Park you have to find the right times, when it's not too busy with strollers, hikers, joggers, and people oblivious to path etiquette. That 18.8 speed was a one lap sprint. I normally pace a bit slower. Today I did 6 laps (5.6 miles each) around and averaged 16.9 MPH. My normal pace is about 16 MPH, but I am getting faster all the time.

I think I will be in your neck of the woods Sep. 6. I am planning to ride the Trenton, IL "2014 D.A.R.E. to Ride to the Lake." I plan on a century that goes to Carlisle Lake and back.
