Hi Jim
Thank you so much for your welcome.

My gear is very humble: but I do have the benefit of our front lounge room to listen to it all in! My wife and i have a deal - she has a craft room and I have a listening room. Marvellous. My lounge isn't huge: maybe 4.3m x 5.5m x 3m tall. It could so with some room tx which I'll get around to: I'm a fan of targeted room intervention: measuring the problem and having a narrow range intervention. Eg Helmhotz resonators or active band absorption panels. Stops over dampening.

My front end is an Auraliti Linux server which feeds (via spdif) to a Lux D 05 CD/SACD player. I've also got a CA Performance TT/Satisfy/Maestro combo that is lovely. SACD's are cheap now and perform very very well on my system.

My amp/phono is a Lux 550A II. I couldn't be happier. It is easily the best amp I have owned.

Speakers are Harbeth SHL5's. I've sort of settled on them as the best compromise for me. My real love is Quad 57's - I have owned several pairs. And no doubt again will have a pair. But they take a lot of work to get to sound as I know they can and they have severe limitations. The 5's have the timbre of the Quads but with presence and weight without the need for a sub. (the Quad's work very well with TBI Magellan subs).

I like simple clean systems with the minimum of fuss. I have long ago given up chasing the ultimate and just settle into the music. Anyway my budget is...limited so can't indulge in hi end (how I would love a pair of ML CLX's! or 2905's).

Cables are Black Cat Veloce, Lux XLR and Morrow SP6 Ref.

I also have an Accuphase T101 - which is great - but is packed away atm as our reception up in the Mtns is poor.

So that is my gear: thanks so much for asking.

Best wishes
Andrew

Hello everyone, it's nice to be here :-)
I allready read a few weeks on this nice and friendly forum. People overhere do like all kinds of gear but prefer big systems :-)
I do like all High-end gear, especially Sonus Faber. Some kind of Amati fan ;-). I do have the Anniversario in my 2 channel system. And the Amati Hommage 1 in my office.
I can't wait till end of the week when my Futura's will arrive :-). I'm supplying them with Wadia and Krell gear.
I don't have McIntosch (yet) but do have some nice blue lights on my Krell gear ;-)

The high detail of Wadia and Krell + the softness of SF should be a supreme combination, IMO.

Welcome!

Ah, so THIS is where you got off to! Long time no see, Ivan!

For those that don't know, good sound's something of a genetic imperative with me (I'm The Old Man's grandkid). I recently spent a lovely afternoon with Mc speaker guru Roger Russell, and came home with an empty wallet (I mean really empty - I had to go home the long way 'cause I didn't have cash for Turnpike tolls!) and a car full of XR-250s. The 4100 has to work a bit harder than with the Stereotech3s, but the sound is markedly improved - more bass extension and MUCH cleaner lower midrange. W00t!

Glad you finally found us!

Geez, I left a bread crumb trail.

Welcome to AA!

Thanks for the welcome Vesuvius.
Yes the synergy of SF and the new Krell Evo is very good , imo.
But i prefer the Wadia (781i gnsc) above the Krell sources.
