Agree, the green platter looks cool ... maybe they were worried about the MT2 edging into MT5 territory if they looked too similar. That said, the black platter still looks upscale.

The Technics would definitely be on my short list, I had one before I bought the Rega RP6 I currently have. The Linn looks pretty nice as well, but I think I would take the SL1200G over the Magik.

Wondering the same, we already knew the MT5/10's were built by Clearaudio ahead of the even coming out, however there seems to be a mystery in regards to the MT2.

Thanks for posting that, I had not read that yet. Interesting that it is compared to the Rega P6 and I have the RP6 which is one generation behind the P6. Seems as they preferred it over both the Rega P6 and Thorens.

One of the reasons I'm even interested in a new TT is that I never quite got bit by the Rega bug and don't really find the RP6 table or Exact 2 cart up to my listening preferences compared to my old Technics table I had prior.

To be honest all the reviews I found it been from pompous wine drinking scarf wearing Steffes who don’t know how to speak in layman’s terms. We need someone like us who is not going to use words the length of a mile . Just something planned or English and answer these questions but from my experience in the past 95% of all the products that Macintosh produces have been made in New York or the United States
Wow, I would love to hear more, please make sure to post back and let us know what you find out! I too appreciate reviews that cut the bull and get right into the nuts and bolts of things in layman's terms. Really interested in the servo setup they have going, seems like a hybrid belt with the precision close to DD.

The more I look at this table, the more it reminds me of a Clearaudio Concept. Aside from Mac aesthetics ...the platter, the speed dial settings along with its location ~ seem to be almost identical.

It's made for McIntosh by Clearaudio, I believe. Engineering TTs is not in McIntosh's wheelhouse, so they OEM it. Just look at ll the trouble Schiit had trying to manufacture their own TT. The Sol has been a quality nightmare for them.

The platter is POM because it's a better material than acrylic for platters.

It's probably a decent turntable, but you'd likely pay less for the Clearaudio equivalent.

Also, I'd expect it would be next to impossible to sell used if you ever decided to.

Probably Performance DC rather than Concept.

Interesting statement. What Technics table were you using?

FWIW, I own an MT10 table and recently sold my rega RP10 table w/ Apheta 2 cart. I owned both tables concurrently for better part of 3 years. The MT10 is no question the better sounding table, not even close really. That said, I can understand the MT2 being preferred to the rega P6. If it were me, I would try like hell to stretch to the MT5 and forget the MT2. There are many happy MT5 owners and it looks like a million dollars .... gotta believe that the MT5 would sell much easier on the used market vs the MT2. Maybe keep an eye out or call audio classics for a used MT5 as opposed to a new MT2.
