DarqueKnight.......Welcome to Audio Aficionado.
The PS Audio Power Plant Premier is an excellent AC power regenerator. When added to my systems, each was improved with a more black background, and greater definition to voices and instruments. Having a perfect sine wave, and pure clean AC makes an impressive difference in all three of my systems. I think I can safely testify for Masterlu here, not that he needs me to speak on his behalf. He is an ultra perfectionist, not only about his sound systems and home theater rooms, but about almost everything he puts his hands on. You will likely never meet anyone more dedicated to squeezing the last grams of performance from his sound systems, and home theater systems. Is there an audible difference between 120 volts AC with a 0.1% THD powering your gear, or 120 volts AC with a 0.4% THD powering your gear? Probably not enough to actually hear, or be able to describe. Will that small improvement in AC output THD, audible or not, keep Masterlu from attempting to get the best output from the PPP's, and the highest level of performance from his gear? No it won't. There are very few people willing to go the distance of the Master, and fewer still that have achieved the results he commands.

Ah Dan, you know me so well
I can say that the physical location I live in; Cape Cod plus being in the basement offers me a much quieter soundroom/theater than Florida. This has given me an edge/motivation to make my system quieter than ever. Both systems are absolutely dead silent when they should be. I don't think I can hear the 0.1% THD I have attained, however all my tweaks and efforts have rewarded me with one outstanding experience.

I was wondering what THD 5 PPP's in series would produce, until I saw Dan's vixen pic. Now I've lost my train of thought...............................

I previously tried my PPP's in series and scratched my head when they were connected in this manner the meters indicated the input distortion increased even though the output decreased.

When I switched on my PPP's this afternoon, I noticed that the output distortion on one of the units was reading 5.5% where the other unit was at 0.9%. Normally both units are +/- 1% when MultiWave is on.
I powered the units off a couple of times but the readings remained the same. I wanted to see if it was the unit or something else so I swapped power cords. Whenever you disconnect the PPP from the wall it takes several seconds for them to reset themselves so you can power them up. Well, the powering of and resetting corrected the problem. Both units are back to reading similar distortion values. |
