I have listened extensively to both, and while both are very good speaker, I arrived at the opposite conclusion and bought the Q1

I've listened to neither and ended up buying the TADs. Low to moderate listening on the my CR-1's is just outstanding, amazingly better than any other speaker I've heard. The perform extremely well at higher volumes as well but the majority of my listening is late night, early morning and I feel they do not give up anything.

Congrats for the aquisition of the Q1. What is the rest of your system? I ve listened to brand new Q3s but came to the conclusion that they are bright for my tastes. Q1 is believed to be better balanced speaker, with slightly different implementation of the tweeter.

I listened to the Q1 at a show in holland, small room, small tube amplifier (cannot remember the brand) but great result, very neutral, instruments and voices realistic. The Yello CD (touch) they played was pressurizing the room nicely.

The also had the Q7, Vivaldi dCs, Pass Labs XP30 and the new multi boxed mono Amplifiers.
Played very impressive, but I had the feeling I was listening to music more on the Q1's
I have to admit I didn't have a good listening spot (too busy) in the large demo room, would have loved to listen to this set by myself.

jazzman,

I'd also like to know more about your Q1 system.

Thanks.

Default Q1 and low level listening

I was wondering how good are Q1s in low level listening. Standmounds of 86dB sensitivity usually need to be played at louder volumes to come to life.

Not decided yet between the 2 options I have. I am moving everything in my new dedicated room (finalizing construction this weekend I hope). I need to compare in the new room my 2 configs, and see which amp I keep:
- minimalist: Q1+ Devialet fed directly by my NAS
- option 2: Q1+ Dartzeel 108 + APL NWO-Master CD player (just upgraded the Dartzeel to latest status, need to bring it back from Switzerland to hear how it sounds now)

Wouldn't say that Q3 is bright or Q1 is more balanced. Q3 is bright on a bright source. If I listen to Q3 with a Vitus, Gryphon, Dartzeel, it is gorgeous, if I use a Spectral it is bright to my taste.

The Q3s I heard were fed by Ayre MX-R/KX-R combo.
