Default Dx5

Finally fired up the dx5 with bluray on new pany vt50 65". Heck of a player.

Would like a 70 or 80" plasma but no go. The vt50 in my eyes spanks the 8000 Samsung led and pioneer elite led for 1/2-1/3 the price.

Funny how the best tv in the world costs less then many spend on a pair of speaker wires!

Two completely different things. Two years ago I had my car in for a tuneup and decided to let the dealer also install new tires. The quote for everything was a little over $1K, and the service rep was almost apologizing for the cost. In my mind I was thinking, "I paid more for a power cord than this."

Glad you're enjoying the unit. I also plan to upgrade my TV to either the VT50 or the newer units due out this summer, so glad to read your + impressions.

I also prefer my VT30 to the Sharp Elite. Plasma just looks more natural and real to me.

Did you get the new DX5 upgrade? main features include DSD playback, analog and power supply upgrade.

I have a 50" kuro and 40" sony xbr LCD (for room. With direct sunlight).

The top plasmas from Panasonic just look better than and LCD/led. Skin looks like skin, the images also look more deep. Just better. The new vt50/60 are sig more bright than my older plasma. I did not even have to close our shades.

I did not know about dx5 upgrade - when was that announced? Mine was built early 2012.

Anyone know if the DX-5 will be upgradable to handle 4K? I was considering the Krell Evolution 555 also, which IS upgradable to 4K. But I hear so many good things about Ayre's DX-5. The Mcintosh blu player isn't anything to sneeze at either...

Question: I'm having an issue with my DX-5. I can't get audio from the dedicated HDMI Audio Out. The HDMI A/V out is fine but when I attempt to use the isolated approach which Ayre recommends, I get nothing.

I have my TV going into the Ayre HDMI A/V Out and went into the player's menu to set HDMI Audio off so I could run a separate cable from the HDMI Audio Out into my Cary C12 - nothing. I tried every HDMI input on the C12 to no avail. Is it the DX-5 or the C12?? Help!

Yes, we have been using panasonic plasma in the tv room and bedroom for years. So much better than led or lcd. You need to let it warm up a little, similar to tubes, but when you do everything looks more real. We have samsung lcd in the kitchen, sharp but not as good.
