These new versions look like something that Franco would not have produced. BTW, the original silk strings are IMO a problem that long term makes no sense whatsoever! They look fine when newer, but after a few years...they are a no go and IMHO a design flaw. So, the new stand for the G may not look as good as the previous string based stands, but I bet they will perform a lot better- and for a much longer period of time.

Since when cost has been an issue when you're selling speakers at that price and for audiophiles?
What you mean is that the profitability wasn't high enough and they found a way to improve the bottom line.
The original was made of pure wood not MDF with layers upon layers of lacquer. I don't know if that's still the case here.
I'm sad to see the Strad/Elipsa form factor lost forever.
