Apologies for horning in, but in comparing the wall-outlet feed to my bedroom-system Hydra 8 v2 using the Black Mamba HC CX and the Delta NR, I've found output with the Delta in place to be "quicker", more highly-resolved both spatially and tonally, and more "open" in its presentation. The Delta's more neutral than the Mamba, and bass definition is such that the impression it leaves is that the lows are heftier and more microdynamically nuanced. That's after 240+ hours of settling time.

I'm now hunting down pennies to replace the Venom NR v10 feeding my DAC with a Delta NR. (The Venom will go to where Stephen originally recommended, the c-j Premier 17LS in my living-room system.)

For what it's worth.

Hi Jim......welcome to the party. You’ll always have an invite. That being said, with all the rave reviews and comments on the Delta I just had to give it a go.

You might want to check under your sofa cushions for some coins.

Thanks Jim, your impressions are welcome and appreciated. I currently have a Black Mamba HC CX feeding my amplifier which I am looking to replace. I do not have a power distributor so the cable will be / is plugged directly to the wall. Down the road I plan to insert one when the funds allow. So as I understand it, the Delta NR would be a safer bet instead of the Venom NR-V10. Correct?

Its better than the Black Mamba on virtually every audio parameter one would care to consider. And, considerably quieter than BM HC/CX or CX.

Man, I loved that preamp. It was so...beautiful-sounding. Sublime...

I should have never sold mine. Sniff...

Here we go again with another Shunyata cable thread. These always cost me money.

They're both amazing; one should NOT underestimate the Venom NR-V10. The Venom NR-V10 provides superb DTCD and noise reduction, and for $450, it has to be one of the greatest performance per dollar bargains in high-end audio I've ever experienced.

I would say the amount of NR that both provide is about the same, but the Delta NR is even more amazing with respect to DTCD, so it would be an superb choice for an amplifier, in particular.

As Stephen indicates, the Venom NR v10 is a remarkable PC. It gobsmacked me when I substituted it for a highly-regarded upgraded-connector PC that had elevated the performance of my DAC about a year-and-a-half ago. And I'm keeping it for installation in another system that gets a lot of play here because it's that good.

I couldn't compare the Venom directly with the Delta NR because the connectors and associated components are different. But the comparison with the Black Mamba could have inspired Cole Porter to write "Night and Day". Listening this evening to Jacques Ibert's Escales ("Ports of Call") from a 16/44 rip of the Keith Johnson-engineered Reference Recordings CD of the same (Anglicized) name riveted me with its you-are-there concert-hall immediacy, scale, and bottom-to-top coherence and definition, a far more wide-open, wall-elimination presentation than before. I suspect you'd hear the same from the wall to your amp, especially after you let it "cook" a while. And that's why I'm on a penny hunt to get another Delta for my DAC.

FWIW.
