Default Another 1911

Picked up a Springfield Trophy Match .45 about 6 months ago. Finally made it out to the range this morning with my son and did some shooting with the Springfields. I don't know why I don't go more often, I am very fortunate to have a top notch quality indoor range less than 3 miles away from home!

We brought the Springfield TRP and the new Trophy Match. The Trophy Match is a great shooter, match barrel and bushing, tuned, competition trigger and with the nice adjustable target sights, the bulls eyes are easier to come by and the groups are tight, tight, tight. Feels great in the hand except the front strap checkering is real aggressive on Springfields lately, it bites the hand a bit. Overall, one sweet .45.

Any other Springfield owners here?

Also looked at a few Wilson Combat .45s they had laying around, I need to get one... Real nice.

Springfield puts 20LPI checkering on the front strap of some of their guns, it can leave a mark.

I use to own four of the Springfield Professional models, they were at the top of the heap for the 1911's i've owned. It makes for an interesting read how they came about making the guns for a dept in the FBI.

Go to Springfield Armory and look at the Custom Brochure, there are guns in the ready to make boxes that are attached to names that might be familiar to some of you.

By the way, I used to reload 9mm and .45ACP back in the day and 500 round shooting range sessions were the norm. The only gun that never complained after those sessions was my Springfield basic 1911 that I customized myself with various parts from Wilson catalog. I think I must have easily went through 10,000 rounds with it before I sold it for just about what I paid for it. It was barely broken in by that time.

Right now I would rather have a new springfield than a new colt (forgive me colonel sam)

Would still like to have an old Gold cup national match
