LCR into the wall is the way I would go. I apologize about bringing up another manufacturers cable in a WW thread, I did not realize I did that until later. I was trying to get the larger gauge first then an equal or lesser gauge cable after the PPP aspect across.

Because the LCR doesn't quite reach the wall, I have a Shunyata extension on the way. That will give me a full 12 AWG connection. And I'm giving a strong look at the Wireworld PCs, though I'm limited to the Stratus or maybe the Aurora. Still, either is an upgrade.

Despite the fact that Wireworld cables are all 12AWG, they seem to have a strong reputation. I've heard that for amps like the 501s, power cords should be as heavy as possible, even if plugged into a line conditioner with a smaller gauge (i.e. Omerta's situation). So, what is so enticing about the WW cords?
I'm on info overload with looking for PCs for my Macs and am about to just buy something reasonable and be done with it. |

When I used to sell WireWorld one thing I would always preach to people about WireWorld is that they do not "hide" their design concept. Go to Wire World - Power Conditioning Cords and read about the power cords and check out the other cables. I would guess if you went to 10 other cable company websites you'll be hard pressed to find drawings and descriptions of their design/theory of cables. For me that speaks volumes. It's a breath of fresh air in the crazy world of high end cables. When I used to go to CEDIA every year the one thing I looked forward to was talking with David and hearing about his latest designs. So many other companies, when you asked about their product and what made them "special", would just try to baffle you with bullshit for 15mins then call it a day. Anyhow, this is a long winded attempt to tell you to try the Stratus or Aurora's, whichever meets your budget. You will not be disappointed.

Well, one thing is certain. Unless a PC is very flexible, I won't want anything heavier than 12 gauge. All the WW cords are 12 gauge. So are the other contenders, Shunyata Venom 3 and PS Audio AC-3. I have some PSA AC-5s which, at 10 gauge, are too stiff and were a challenge to connect in my setup. Should my setup change I could see problems with them. I had Pangea AC-9s but at 7 AWG were much too inflexible; in fact the one I connected took off a piece of the outlet cover on my conditioner when it partially came out of the plug due to its weight and stiffness as I struggled with the amp connection. To gain any advantage with these heavier cables I'd need a longer run than the connection calls for.
So I'm going to take another look at Wireworld. The other thing is to overcome some impatience to resolve this issue; that's what happened with the AC-5 when I caught a sale on them and jumped, forgetting to consider my prime criterion of flexibility. |
