Thanks for all the positive comments.

Fjn. Re the dynavector : My 20X is the high output version – it goes directly in to the Aurieges and I think this is a beautifully synergistic combo very lush, full bodied sound no glare at all. Highly, highly recommended as an entry combo. The Auditorium SUT is not in use with the Dynavector it is patiently awaiting the completion of my 401 project which will sport a Schick arm and EMT XSD 15.

Tommy, Re upgrading amps: of course I dream about this contiuously … it’s just that things sound so wonderful at the moment I don’t feel an urgent “need” to upgrade. Most of my listening is quite nearfield in a smallish room, very intimate so I wonder if the bigger soundfield of the more expensive gear might actually spoil things a bit (probably not, but I’m trying to rationalize here) I remember Art Dudleys review of the Cortese compared to the Montille (I think) he commented on how everything got bigger and he ended up moving his seat back to adjust for this. I don’t have any room to move my seat back. Furthermore I find my music quite stimulating with the Montilles volume at the 12 O clock positon and the Aurieges at 11 O clock, so certainly no need for more power.

Having said all that I do dream about stepping up to a Monbrisson or Massetto and perhaps the more expensive Auditorium SUT (when I get my new turntable going) not sure which move would be best to do first though. At some point I’d also like to change the Auditorium ICs to Shindo and finally my Monster surge protector to a Mr T. Wouldn’t want to do this all at once – the delicious anticipation and appreciation of each incremental improvement is part of the fun.

cheers

Doug

Shindoug & Others - This is my first post after reading posts for a few months now. I have multiple systems, one of which uses the Auditorium 23 Solovox Homage speakers and another that uses Omega Super 8 Alnico XRS speakers. I am considering upgrading the Omega speakers and have narrowed my possible choices to the Lafites, O/96's, and the new offering from Line Magnetic. I would appreciate comments, suggestions, thoughts, etc. as to which of the 3 aforementioned speakers, all of which are superb, would be the "best" to contrast the musical presentation I enjoy so much from my Solovox speakers. And what is it about the speaker so recommended that you believe makes it distinctly different from the Solovox? Many thanks in advance! All The Best, Steven

Hi Steven, Welcome to AA.

If you have Shindo gears, the Lafites would be a top choice.

Hi TommyC - Thanks for the welcome! This is a great venue for learning and for sharing with other Shindo lovers. Three of my systems have Shindo preamps; the one with the to-be-replaced Omegas is an Aurieges-L. I am almost ashamed to admit that with all of the gear I have, I still do not own a single Shindo power amp. I have used a Bedini 25/25 paired with the Aurieges to drive the Omegas with great results. My impression from reading in this and other forums is that I should of course go with a Shindo amp (and I probably will eventually bite that bullet), but to start out, I will use my Luxman MQ-88. That was an excellent amplifier paired with my Masseto in driving my former DeVore Fidelity Silverbacks. Getting back on point, what is it about the Lafites that you prefer over the O/96's and the Line Magnetic's, and what do you feel - sonically speaking, is distinctively different about the Lafites in comparison to the Solovox? Steven
