My Aurieges-L is also absolutely dead silent when no signal present... and have also now heard the new version that the Magnepan dealer here bought for himself and it was also just beautifully silent... something sounds wrong there.

My gear is quite quiet, almost but not quite dead quiet. As others say, more hiss thru phono stage.
Even with my 103db speakers.

Matt thinks it's some kind of grounding problem with the IC between my pre and power amp. He will send me a Shindo IC to rule out this possibility.

I have 2 pairs. I XLR-XLR between source and Arome. Another RCA-RCA between Arome and preamp.

Hmm. Could be it. Shindo do ground the ICs a little different from what I remember.
