Definitely.!

I only put grills on my speakers if I have children around, after they leave, grills come off.

There is better integration with the tweeter. (Not surprising). The soundstage is now slightly larger both front to back and in the sides also. I guess I feel really silly now

Try this as an experiment: blow on your hand. Then place a grill between your mouth and your hand. Blow again. Notice a difference?

How exactly that effects what you hear I've not researched.

I haven't turned them super loud as I am past the recommend power of 200 watts with my amp and want to make sure I don't overdrive my speakers. (My McIntosh MC302 puts out 300 Watts/channel). The loudest I have turned up my preamp was to about 52 which was crazy loud for a party. They sounded great but it really depends on how large your room is. My room is not very large as it is about 22 X 25 and the 804D3's do really well at that volume.

Grilles are for protection only in most loudspeakers. There are exceptions, however, such as the ATC SCM 50 Actives.

Including the tweeter grille?

No problem with listening "naked" but I would feel slightly uncomfortable if the diamond tweeter wasn't wearing protection.

I'm not sure the tweeter grille can come off the new models.

Just to clarify, the tweeter protector I never remove for listening. The grills covering the mid and bass drivers I do remove.

Best,
