Default D100 vs D150

Can someone elaborate on why I would want one over the other - some of these newer digital music formats are a little voodoo-y to me..... and other that price - what are some of the benefits?

I will toss these generic questions out with the hopes of sparking some discussions.....

Big difference is the ability to decode DSD & DXD based files and upping the ante with PCM files to 342 khz via USB input. The D100 cannot decode the DSD & DXD formats.

So basically, you'd want to buy one if you were to decide to implement a DSD & DXD digital file format library. If FLAC, and other formats such as m4a, mp3 and the like are OK for you, then I see no benefit to upgrading to the D150.

Other digital inputs of the D150 are limited to 192 khz as are all inputs on the D100.

Interestingly enough, both units appear to use the same 32 bit ES Sabre chipset.

Another significant difference is the addition of the DIN input on the D150 which will allow connection of the new MCT450 SACD/CD transport.

So along these lines, would I get better performance from the D150--MCT450 via Din than say a MCT450-- BDA-2/3 via optical/coax?

Seriously thinking about the MCT450, to replace my Linn CD player, however not sure exactly what DAC is best.

(apologies, if I hijacked).

You can't decode SACD over optical/coax.

So does the Bryston BDA-3 decode over HDMI?

Based on the press release I read that appears to be the case. You can certainly connect an SACD player with HDMI out to the BDA-3 HDMI input. Not sure if that means you can feed it DSF files from a computer-based system or not.
