All the ones listed can do as you described, less on portability.. the best one for portability would be a D100/150. I would purchase a custom "camera" case with a foam cut out for it's dimensions. I would attempt to take it anywhere or trunk mount it with a 12V to 120V inverter that meets the D100/150 low power demands. Anything is possible.
Are you asking... How one can determine if the designer was able to extract everything from the design. If that was the question, then I have no idea.

"What the designer was able to extract from the entire design" is what sounds right to me, in my system, and listening to my favorite music.

In regards to portability the D150 would not be ideal. I have traveled extensively with a 1U half rack DAC that fits nicely in my roller bag.

Really cannot say now, but the D150 is on my list to evaluate since I'm interested in DSD support.
