Pider... I plan on doing that comparison tomorrow. If my memory serves me correctly the Rega sounds better than the Emotiva.

So far so good. I really like the sound. I have two more days with it before I have to pack it up and return it.

Jeff,
Rega demonstrated their DAC at an event last night at Audio Concepts in Dallas.
We had a chance to hear it from a MacBook Air, iTunes, via USB, and Brio into a pair of new DeVore 0/96s. Very simple set up, and sounded great into these wonderful speakers.

I was thinking of purchasing the Brio R for a second system and will likely get their DAC, too.

Jeff,

Were you able to compare this combo to the 201 side by side ?

Sent from my iPad using A.Aficionado

Jerome... I won't be able to do a side by side comparison. I plan on listening to the 201 right after I take the Rega out. I also will run the Apollo through the Emotiva DAC.

I see.
Please tell me your thoughts.
I put an ad in a french hifi forum to sell my Rega DAC yesterday and a sale is already pending ! There has been a big buzz around this one.....
Still, my 2 cents is that most of the time, the 201, which has a stunning sound ( apart from its mechanical problems sometimes ) will be better.
The 201 's sound is not far from the MDA1000, which is clearly today one of the very best dacs available.

Pider... Tonight we compared the Rega to the Emotiva. Both the Mrs & myself preferred the Rega DAC. I really trust my wife's hearing on gear. The Rega gear will stay on my short list.

Has anyone besides Jeff @ A/V Solutions listened to the AMR CD-777? Also does anyone know the closest dealer to SE Connecticut for this unit? I would really like to demo it. Unless Jeff wants to send it to me for a few days. But I think the shipping fees would be pretty high though.

Jeff,

If you ever get to hear one, I'd be interested in your opinion.

Joe... I sent an email today to the U.S. distributor asking for the closest dealers near me. I hope they get back to me soon.
